Black unlined notebook

Cuffing my pants, checking the car door, or mindlessly scanning my favorite blog – I find some habits particularly difficult to break. I’m a creature of habit, but I know I know I’m not the only one to bemoan such sentiment.

If you and I dig deep enough, we’ll both uncover a trove of habits, some good and some regretful. Our lives run on habit. Without them, we’d be living a worn out inefficient existence.

However, I have a strong inclination toward habit. I make a habit out of the pants I buy, the shoes I wear, even the floss I buy. And of course, the notebooks I fill. I have one tried and true notebook I return to time and again: the Moleskine Cashier Journal XXL in black.

These notebooks are a mainstay in my idea-keeping practice, a paper product stalwart among my shelves. I buy them out of habit. But I take solace in their use. I anticipate the feel of the paper, the way my pencil rides along its surface. They require little effort and I know exactly what to expect with each subsequent purchase.
