Illogical

It abounds everywhere. Compliance is now the result of mass obedience. Without thought or consideration, people will follow guidelines right off a cliff.

Regardless of what Apple, Google, or Wikipedia will tell you, logic is a reasonable way of thinking about something. Thinking, we know, simply involves using that organ between your ears. But reasonable, rather being reasonable is a little less black and white.

You could argue “reasonableness” is a grey matter. What seems reasonable to you could be preposterous to me.

Is it reasonable to do something because you were told to? The response to a directive should be three questions:

  1. Who gave the command?
  2. What is the command?
  3. Why did they give the command?

This is where logic comes in. “Because I was told to” as a response to a command might be appropriate for a kindergarten student. But as discerning adults, we need to realize our obedience, something seemingly good at first glance, can have damaging consequences.
