Showing up
A splitting headache, a lack of sleep, generally annoyed – I’d prefer to call it in today. But it does more harm to myself than anyone else. What good would it do anyways? Would I really be able to relax by doing nothing in the middle of the week? While the world persists I sit idle on my butt.
(In reality, I’d be doing something: reading a book, catching up on the latest nonsensical social media updates, the type of things you do when you should be doing something else.)
There’s a recipe to achievement. And I believe one of the most important ingredients is the act of showing up. It’s what allows you to continue to move the needle despite the compulsion to sit still. Because inaction never moves you to action. A force must be placed upon yourself.
Repeated actions compound upon themself. Over time a repeated single action becomes a result. And that’s the magic of showing up.
